6. Fonts and dialogue

At this point, make sure your work is saved, fire up your browser, and head over to BlamBot or FontFinder. They're full of great fonts, most of which are free) , and Blambot has some additonal stuff for webcomic authors. Don't worry about loading up on all the fonts you can find or think you might someday need right now; just go through and pick maybe half a dozen fonts that you think may go well with your artwork for dialogue, and maybe a couple more for sound effects or "aside" dialogue.

We use Zud Juice at 11 points for most of our dialogue (although certain characters may use another font to emphasize a different manner of speech), but you may like another font better. We use either a smaller size of Zud Juice or Teenage Angst for asides (like when a character is whimpering in the background), and Teenage (no angst) for sound effects. Choose fonts for your title, copyright notice, and URL, too.

Now play around with some of the fonts you've downloaded in the comic you created in your "Raw" folder. Once you've picked your fonts, type in and place your dialogue. I suggest centering your text for each bit of dialogue and making the top and bottom lines a bit shorter than the middle lines, especially if you plan to use oval word balloons like the ones we use.
