Thanks, Jon, and I'm glad you got something out of it. I wrote it in hopes, of course, that it might help people understand why we're not always grateful for attempts to force us to cheer up. It's like, "Yeah, I'd LOVE to cheer up, but it isn't that simple." Next, I'm planning to write about what it's like to have a mood disorder from the perspective of the ill person, and follow that up with treatments and coping strategies for both the person with the mood disorder and his or her loved ones.
